High Fidelity AM/FM/HD Radio Technology
With 20 FM and 20 AM presets, accurate digital tuning, and HD radio, the XDR-S10HDiP is a powerhouse of the airwaves. Listen to traditional AM/FM radio or enjoy clear, static-free HD digital radio reception of digital broadcasts simulcast by many stations. HD radio provides the ability to receive multiple program streams over a single FM frequency (multiplexed broadcasting), allowing stations to have subchannels with different programming and opening up a wealth of listening options. HD radio also provides text-based information--artist name, song title, etc., which are scrolled across the receiver display.

Best of all, there are no monthly fees for HD radio, unlike satellite radio, where you have to purchase a subscription.

iTunes Tagging Capability
The iTunes Tag button on the new XDR-S1OHDiP allows you to tag songs you like that are broadcast by HD radio stations. Information about these tagged songs is stored by the receiver and transferred to your iPod. When you connect your iPod to your computer, iTunes automatically presents the songs in a new Tagged playlist so you can preview, buy, and download them. iTunes Tagging is a great way to discover new music add it to your collection.

The iPod models that are compatible with iTunes Tagging are iPod nano 3G and iPod classic 5G, 5.5G, and 6G.

Alarm Clock
Wake up to the radio, buzzer, line-in source, or iPod--it's your choice. Also, a sleep timer lets you drift off to your favorite tunes.

Works just fine with an Iphone and you dont have the change it to airplane mode. The sound quality is really good for a such a little box. This was the lowest priced digital HD radio and Ipod dock I had found at Christmas and had actually heard the quality at the Sony store. The remote is also a nice feature. Well worth the money if you need a little sound in the bedroom. There are many HD radio stations in our area and they seem to be stacked on top of standard stations.

The clock part is just that, nothing special. Not quite as good as the Bose systems, but 1/3 the price. I have not tried the tagging feature so I have no insight on it. Well worth having if you like to lisen to alt music from the same local stations. Digital stations do take a few seconds to sync up when selected. I do like the text broadcast feature of the songs on the display.

I would have prefered a heatsink disipation. The thing is 8 feet away and right angle from me and still lights up the room.The second major problem it has is.NO battery backup.

A significant improvement over most IPOD docking radios which can only pass the audio and do a next / previous track. The BAD:When you think alarm clock, it should be able to do two things.

If you are looking for a table radio or office radio with HD Radio and IPOD dock with great sound for a good price.look no further.BUT if you are looking for a ALARM CLOCK for your bedroom.keep looking.First the good: For price under 150USD this HD radio has very nice sound, IPOD, HD channels as well as regular FM channels all have a rich dynamic sound that can easily fill a medium sized room.The IPOD dock is very good and has pretty good control features via remote, you can access and control menu, playlists or search albums or artists. The picture above does NOT show the blue indigo light that has 3 brightness levels but no OFF level.

1 wake you up and 2 let you sleep. Well this thing has a display that NEVER turns off, sure looks great during daylight.but at night it is like sleeping with a lighthouse.

I mean if the AC power blinks for 1 second.all the presets are gone, clock is default and alarm is blank.It has a fan, which is audiable at turn on. Has a 9foot power cord with AC to DC block at midpoint, I would have prefered electronics inside the radio or on the wall module.So in summary.GREAT HD radio with IPOD dock.LOUSY Alarm Clock.

The NPR station that I mostly listen to frequently goes off the air. I received my Sony Sony XDR-S10HDiP radio last month. I'm very happy with it. Was I surprised when the only signal I received from that station a week ago and today, was the HD signal. It makes me happy that I do not have to miss my favorite programs merely because their analog signal is off the air.I would definitely recommend the radio.

I returned it to Amazon because the HD radio screen lights up your room at night. If the light will bother you then stay away from this item

I would have bought another Bose Wave if it had HD radio. Very silly to have to reset all the time for the slightest blip.

I wanted a radio w/ built in iPod and HD. I bought the Sony over 6 months ago, because it was a brand I thought I could trust but the sound quality is not great.

My Bose Wave radio died. I agree about no battery backup.

Fine for small room but I have a large open kitchen and it sounds brassy and not stereo at all. Reception is good for HD and iPod easy to use.

It was more than half the price of my Bose Wave, but I really miss the quality speakers and projected sound from a small table top unit. CD quality HD sound is a waste with this Sony radio.
